Made from a combination of high quality synthetic rubber and steel, the Competition-style plate series is designed for serious training. We created this style of plates because they are the most durable type on the market. With a Shore-A hardness rating of 90+, these plates have a dead bounce when dropped. The look and feel of these plates is matched in the hard wearing construction, while keeping all dimensions and thicknesses benchmarked against International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) standards. A chrome-free proprietary surface finish technology ensures rust resistance for years to come. IWF colours will mean you always know the weight on the bar.

These plates are sold individually. The full set consists of a pair of each plate type. 

Why we made this

Competition-style plates are designed specifically for olympic weightlifting, and differ from regular bumpers in their basic construction - they're thinner and more robust. They also bounce less - offering more durability, and also more weight on the bar!

Plate thickness

  • 5kg - 30mm
  • 10kg - 34mm
  • 15kg - 42mm
  • 20kg - 54mm
  • 25kg - 64mm

  • UNRACK comp-style plates are designed and tested to be dropped on a minimum of 30mm thick rubber flooring or standard drop pads. If the flooring is thinner than this it may result in damage to the plates.
  • All weight plates in the size of 10kg-25kg are designed to be dropped from a height overhead.
  • 5kg plates (PU range as well as the SBR range) are not designed to be dropped on the floor. 
  • Where possible, load your bars with the fewest plates (and therefore heaviest plates) possible. For example, when lifting 70kg on a men's 20kg bar use the red 25kg plates. This will reduce the wear on the lighter plates and keep your kit in top condition for longer.
